IT Consultant for Teaching and Learning with Technology

Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT), a unit of Penn State IT, is seeking a tech-savvy IT Consultant for Teaching and Learning with Technology that can think outside the box to find innovative solutions that fit into standard IT practices.

The IT Consultant will work in TLT's Creative Learning Initiatives (CLI) group at University Park to support emerging technology management and creative technology exploration. In addition the IT Consultant will:

• Be a team player with strong organizational abilities and communication skills
• Manager the CLI iPad fleet and MDM, hardware inventory and operations management of technology assets deployed at commonwealth campuses
• Help facilitate class-scale engagement with the technology in collaboration with other members of CLI.
• Serve as a liaison between TLT , Penn State IT and University IT units in efforts to explore and pilot innovative new solutions and ensure IT policies and standards are followed as solutions are developed.
• Work with IT teams to ensure timely deployment of Media Commons assets like Apple iMacs with specific software configurations used for media creation around the University and One Button Studio custom software rollouts

TYPICAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus 4 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The successful candidate will also have:

• A fundamental understanding of large institution IT standards on topics like software deployment and configuration, hardware management, active directory roles, SSO enabled networks, and data server management is desired
• Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interpret information, ideas, and instructions, and to communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing.
• A proven ability to self-motivate and work both independently and as part of a team

The location of this job is primarily in person at the University Park campus with some flexibility for occasional hybrid mix of in person and remote work. Candidates must live in the local area or be willing to travel to campus as needed at their own expense. Occasional travel to other Penn State campuses may be required.
