BUSINESS SYSTEM ANALYST II
The City of Jackson Transit Service Division, (JTRAN) the transit system, is recruiting for a dynamic, innovative, and highly experienced IT professional to manage the day-to-day activities of JTRAN’s Integrated Digital & Technology Services, responsible for Information Technology functions relating to the transit operations.
The ideal person would support a more integrated, contemporary, and state-of-the-art JTRAN transit network with significantly improved technology applications to support all aspects the transit system. Areas of oversight include enterprise applications, network operations, communication systems, cyber security, fare collections, and associated equipment and infrastructure.
Skills and Qualifications
A successful Business Systems Analyst II often have certain prerequisite and qualifications, which include:
- Problem-solving: Business analysts are often tasked with identifying challenges within the organization and then implementing certain procedures and processes to overcome them. Strongly developed problem-solving and analytical skills are crucial in this role.
- Communication: Business Systems Analysts II use various forms of written and verbal communication to gather information about the transit industry and create reports. Analysts are required to communicate with team members of all levels and work independently.
- Technical: Technical skills are also important in the Business Systems Analyst II role. Upgrading, troubleshooting and implementing new hardware programs is one of the requirements of a systems analyst. Improve training and operational procedures within transit to increase efficiency and productivity. Work directly with transit staff to understand the transit system needs. Test and validate system functionalities and user interfaces to ensure quality assurance. Provide end-user training, and support for newly implemented systems and technologies. Maintain and update existing systems and technologies as required. Monitor and troubleshoot system issues, and escalate to appropriate team members for resolution. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize transit systems processes and system effectiveness. Strong technological and computer knowledge.
- Project management: Business System Analyst II often works in a project team environment. Strongly developed organizational and time management skills are important to move a project from beginning to completion. Conduct research and make recommendations on new technologies and industry trends. Their job involves creating and maintaining system documentation, communicating with upper management on project status, and ensuring that technical solutions align with transit goals. They also conduct system testing and support end-users with technical issues.
Experience:
Typically, a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent is required, along with 2 to 4 years of related experience.
