Conventional hydrogen production from fossil fuels is accompanied by the release of large quantities of carbon dioxide. We are therefore seeking a highly motivated Buyer to join our newly launched H2 Center of Excellence (COE) near Boston, MA.
Job Summary:
As a Buyer, you will play a crucial role in our procurement process. Your responsibilities will include sourcing office supplies, raw materials, components, and finished products for use in electrolyzer R&D and manufacturing. You’ll negotiate with suppliers, ensure timely deliveries, and maintain quality standards. Attention to detail, communication skills, and analytical skills, are essential for success in this role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sourcing and Purchasing:
- Identify and procure office supplies and R&D materials (e.g., lab equipment, raw materials, components, prototypes) needed by various departments.
- Determine equitable, cost-effective, and profitable pricing for products.
- Supplier Management:
- Evaluate supplier performance based on delivery time and product quality.
- Maintain accurate supplier information and documentation.
- Ensure adherence to product specifications and delivery schedules.
- Order Placement:
- Place orders with suppliers based on R&D and production requirement, deadlines, and cost budgets.
- Verify quantities, specifications, and agreed-upon prices.
- Monitor delivery schedules to meet production requirements.
- Quality Assurance:
- Report discrepancies and maintain records.
- Adhere to safety protocols when handling hazardous materials.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor stock levels of office supplies, R&D and production requirements.
- Anticipate demand fluctuations and adjust procurement accordingly.
- Coordinate with teams to optimize stock levels.
- Negotiations and Approvals:
- Conduct pre-contractual negotiations with customers and suppliers.
- Obtain relevant approvals before signing binding contracts.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external authorities.
- Logistics and Documentation:
- Arrange transportation and delivery of materials.
- Verify barcodes and shipping information.
- Maintain shipping documents and invoices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or 3-5 years industry experience.
- Previous experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply management.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with office operations and R&D processes.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in using procurement software tools (e.g., ERP system, Dynamics 365, SAP)
- Detail-oriented, and organized are a must.

Salary: $75K to 85k, depending on the appropriate experience.
