Purchasing Agent for Hospitality Design Firm
Experienced purchasing agent needed for Interior Design firm. Thorough Knowledge of the marketplace for Interior design goods is essential, and candidates with extensive knowledge of local New England (Boston) sales reps for manufacturers are preferred. Minimum 7 years’ experience is prerequisite for consideration. Must have strong references who can speak to efficacy, follow-up, organization, and people skills as candidates will be thoroughly vetted. Office is located in the Seaport Area of Boston, 5-minute walk to South Station and public transportation. Hours can be flexible. Must be fluent in excel, highly detailed oriented, and strong accounting/ bookkeeping skills as would be required to manage million-dollar accounts simultaneously. Office is small, relaxed but busy environment, friendly, with a global reputation for excellence. Three weeks paid vacation annually. Dental insurance provided. No medical.
We are seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join our team. The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for procuring goods and services essential for our operations, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining optimal inventory levels. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management and logistics.
Duties:
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize costs while maintaining quality standards.
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their products and services.
- Negotiate contracts and terms with vendors to secure advantageous pricing and terms.
- Collaborate with production planning to ensure timely availability of materials.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the warehouse team to prevent stockouts.
- Utilize inventory control systems to track purchases, shipments, and receipts.
- Manage relationships with suppliers to resolve issues promptly and maintain positive partnerships.
Experience:
- Proven experience in procurement, supply chain management, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of logistics, inventory control, and production planning.
- Familiarity with e-commerce platforms for procurement purposes.
- Ability to negotiate effectively and secure favorable contracts.
- Proficiency in using supply chain management systems for purchasing activities.
- Excellent communication skills for vendor interactions and contract negotiations.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $74,087.00 - $78,695.00 per year
