Prepares computer-aided design (CAD) drafts, drawings, and schematics derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, blueprints, and sketches. Being a CAD Drafter maintains deadlines, goals, and production standards set by the department. Coordinates and consults with engineers or designers to complete projects. Additionally, CAD Drafter transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using CAD software. Collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The CAD Drafter work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a CAD Drafter typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. JOB SUMMARY:
US Housing Components is a local prefabrication company located in Buckner, Kentucky that manufactures wooden trusses and wall panels for multi-family homes and hotels. The Component Designer utilizes AutoCAD software tools to design the structural building components from architectural plans and specifications including wood floor trusses, roof trusses, and/or wall panels. Other duties include creating prototypes, layouts and models for product components, a system, or a manufacturing process using CAE tools; performing analysis to find flaws or inefficiencies in designs and to model solutions; collecting and assembling data; other duties as assigned by a manager.
