Job Summary:

The Moser Energy Systems Drafter & CAD Designer creates SolidWorks models, parts, and drawings for use in manufacturing and fabrication. Their duties include creating traditional designs from preliminary sketches, verifying that drawings meet required specifications, updating internal specification logs, general status spreadsheets, and creating technical documents and reports. 

Education/ Experience:

• Engineering or Technical degree in drafting or modeling is required.
• 3-5 years of experience drafting and designing in a manufacturing environment is required.

Supervisor:

Manager, Engineering, unless otherwise designated.

Typical Responsibilities:

• Create preliminary models from conceptual designs.
• Create engineering drawings and designs for production and manufacturing.
• Create design specifications, documentation, and material lists.
• Interact with production teams to troubleshoot drafting and design issues.
• Verify drawings are correct to specifications, codes, and other regulations.
• Participate in the continuous improvement of drafting standards and practices.
• Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in CAD technology.
• Use all facets of the SolidWorks software related to the preparation of 3D and 2D drawings for R&D and manufacturing departments.
• Produce technical drawings, via SolidWorks, for prototype (concept) approval, existing unit modifications, and technical documentation.
• Utilize expertise in drafting techniques and principles to produce high quality technical drawings.
• Apply knowledge of drafting software and tools to efficiently complete drafting tasks.
• Incorporate design changes and feedback into existing drawings as required.
• Maintain organized records of drawings and related documentation for easy retrieval and reference.
• Generate bills of materials, schematics, and other technical documentation.
• Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, and building materials to complete drawings.
• Analyze designs for potential improvements in terms of efficiency, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Participate in design review meetings to provide input on manufacturability and suggest improvements.
• Know and comply with all safety policies, standards, and procedures that apply to your job.
• Actively participate in all required training and safety meetings.
• Immediately report all incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions to your supervisor.
• Abide by all policies and procedures established by Moser Energy Systems.
• Assist with any task required by the direct supervisor.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Must be proficient in Solid Works and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Proven experience in mechanical and electrical drafting using CAD tools.
• Proficient in piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID).
• In-depth knowledge of ASME Y14 standards.
• Capability to assist with implementing and maintaining a structured drafting program.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Exceptional attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
• Interpersonal skills to work within a team, taking direction from Project Managers and Engineers.
• Time management skills to complete error-free work within the required timeframe.
• Communication skills with an emphasis on reading and writing for creating documentation and reports.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to develop creative solutions.
• Must treat everyone equally with respect and dignity.
• Pass a drug screening.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to sit and/ or stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
• Must be able to interact with people and technology while either standing or sitting.
