CAD Drafter utilizes computer-aided design (CAD) software and other techniques, standards, and tools to prepare technical drawings. Prepares computer-aided design (CAD) drafts, drawings, and schematics derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, blueprints, and sketches. Being a CAD Drafter maintains deadlines, goals, and production standards set by the department. Coordinates and consults with engineers or designers to complete projects. Additionally, CAD Drafter transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using CAD software. Collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The CAD Drafter work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a CAD Drafter typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Duties of Engineering Drafter:
Construction/shop detail drawings
Update As-built drawings
Assist with engineering solutions
Participate in quality assurance program for shop fabrication
Help to solve problems on the shop floor
Conducting load tests of aluminum manhole castings
Create and maintain weld procedures
Review submittals
Reviewing preliminary shop drawings
Assist in estimating future work
Participate in our AISC and SSPC Quality Assurance programs
Engineering Drafter position skills/qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering preferred
3-5 years experience required
AutoCAD program education and experience will be considered
Comfortable reading and understanding construction drawings
Good written and oral communication skills
Good problem solving skills
Work effectively as part of a team
Follow through on assignments
Proactively solve problems, find better ways of doing things
Willing to learn all of Nova s production processes
Good time management, sense of urgency
Knowledge of good shop drawing practice as it relates to structural steel and pipe fabrication
Adept at Autocad (2d, 3d, …)
Accuracy and thoroughness
Genera Computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel
General administrative skills including record keeping, documentation
Coordination with other departments
Drafting experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D and/or Advance Steel is a plus
Pay Range: $60,000.00 -$75,000.00 per year, non-exempt
