Additionally, Campus Police Officer may conduct educational activities related to safety and crime prevention. Typically require associate degree in criminal justice. May require POST(Peace Office Standards and Training) certification. Typically reports to Police Supervisor. The Campus Police Officer occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     The South Whitley Police Department is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining law and order, protecting the community, and ensuring public safety. This is a challenging and rewarding career that requires strong skills in law enforcement, conflict management, and criminal investigation. Tier I or Tier II ILEA certifications strongly encouraged.

    Duties:

    - Enforce laws and regulations to maintain public order

    - Patrol assigned areas to prevent and detect criminal activity

    - Respond to emergency calls and provide assistance as needed

    - Conduct investigations, gather evidence, and make arrests when necessary

    - Write detailed reports on incidents, investigations, and arrests

    - Conduct surveillance operations to gather intelligence

    - Provide first aid and emergency care as required

    - Handle animals in various situations, including animal control and assistance

    Qualifications:

    - Tier I or Tier II ILEA certification preferred

    - US Citizen

    - Must possess a valid driver's license

    - At least 21 years old at the time of appointment

    - High School Diploma or equivalent

    - No felony convictions

    - No domestic violence convictions

    - Military experience is highly desirable

    - First aid certification is a plus

    - Strong knowledge of law enforcement procedures and practices

    - Excellent report writing skills

    - Ability to handle animals safely and effectively

    - Proficient in conflict management techniques
