Campus Police Officer conduct patrols on campus to ensure security of buildings, students and staff. Responds to requests for assistance and emergencies. Being a Campus Police Officer enforces vehicle and traffic regulations. Investigates crimes. Additionally, Campus Police Officer may conduct educational activities related to safety and crime prevention. Typically require associate degree in criminal justice. May require POST(Peace Office Standards and Training) certification. Typically reports to Police Supervisor. The Campus Police Officer occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. The Linton Police Department is currently accepting applications for the immediately available position(s) of Full-Time Police Officer.
All applicants must meet all pre-employment minimum requirements and complete all testing and screening components of the hiring process. The testing and screening process may include all or some of the following: Physical Agility Test, Written Examination, Department Panel Interview, Background Investigation, Polygraph Examination, and interviews with Administration and Board of Public Safety. The results of this process will be used to compile a list of candidates for future Full-Time Police Officer vacancies.
Pre-employment Minimum Requirements:
Must be a United States Citizen.
Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent; education beyond high school is preferred.
Must possess a valid Indiana driver’s license or be a non-resident with a valid driver’s license in your state and be willing/able to obtain an Indiana driver’s license.
Must be at least 21 years of age but less than 40 years of age; or be a Veteran with 20 years of armed forces service with a maximum age of 40 years and 6 months; or be a member of the PERF 77 fund.
Must be able to pass thorough background investigation.
Must or will meet all residency requirements required by Indiana statute as defined in I.C. 36-8-4-2.
