Campus Police Supervisor jobs in Charleston, WV

Provides police protection of all Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) buildings and grounds and enforcement of state and local laws, hospital policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Ensures safety and security of people and property.

Responsibilities

1. Patrol assigned areas and respond to requests for assistance. 2. Proactively monitor and respond to potential security threats. 3. Intervene in patient, visitor and/or staff confrontations as appropriate. 4. Enforce laws, issuing citations or arresting suspects. 5. Secure and investigate crime scenes, collect evidence, interview witnesses, and prepare and submit reports. 6. Testify in court cases or other legal proceedings. 7. Deter vandalism, theft, property abuse, and other crimes. 8. Provide traffic control and enforce hospital parking regulations. 9. Provide assistance to visitors as necessary. 10. Provide escort serve as requested. 11. Assist in emergencies such as fire, unruly persons, or violations of hospital regulations in accordance with standard policies and procedures. 12. Use independent judgment in handling emergency situations in accordance with standard policy and procedure. 13. Supervises other officers in the department

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact) The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients. Competency Statement Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist. Perform related duties as assigned.

Education

• Formalized Training (Required) Education: Must have High School Diploma/GED plus Successful completion of Police Academy Program Experience: 5 years of supervisory duties
