The Gothenburg Police Department (population 3478) is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. Individuals who currently possess a Law Enforcement Certification from the State of Nebraska or the equivalent from another state are preferred, but not required. Non-certified applicants must meet all requirements to obtain entry into the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center, including the passing of the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education), the PRET (Physical Readiness Entrance Test) and successfully complete the basic training curriculum at the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center to obtain their law enforcement certification.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens; 21 years of age; never convicted of a felony or serious misdemeanor by any Court, be in good physical condition and possess excellent moral character; possess a valid driver’s license and a high school diploma or GED certificate. Following employment offer, continued employment is contingent upon satisfactory passing a psychological test, medical examination, and pre-employment drug screen.
Salary is based on experience and qualifications with a range of $49,920 to $66,560. Benefits include individual and family medical insurance, city retirement plan that includes the city matching up to 6%, vision, dental, Life/AD&D insurance, long term disability; full duty gear and a mobile phone is provided, paid vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay.
