SUPERVISOR:
Security Coordinator or designee.
SUMMARY:
Supervise and guide the work of approximately thirteen (13) or more Security Specialists at a large campus location that contains more than one school. Maintain effective communication with the feeder’s Security Coordinator. Provide campus safety and security for students, staff, visitors, and properties. Collaborate with law enforcement and school staff in the handling of unlawful activities, camera surveillance, and other safety- and security-related matters. Plan, organize, and provide supervision for special events on campus.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job; not all tasks may be performed by each employee. Duties and assignments may vary based on building assignment and academic year. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only.
- Supervise and monitor work completed by approximately thirteen (13) or more Security Specialists at a large campus location that contains more than one school. Assign work as needed. Provide input on performance evaluations. [Daily, 25%]
- Maintain effective day-to-day communication with the feeder’s Security Coordinator and ensure campus safety and security operations are in alignment with the department’s direction and the District’s mission and strategic goals. [Daily, 10%]
- Collaborate with law enforcement and school staff in the handling of unlawful activities, camera surveillance, and other safety- and security-related matters. [Daily, 10%]
- Observe and assist with investigations concerning tips on illegal drugs, alcohol, weapons, contraband, and any additional threats. [Daily, 10%]
- Supervise and provide proper coverage for the loading and unloading of buses at designated locations. [Daily, 10%]
- Create and maintain the parking permit system for both staff and students. [Daily, 5%]
- Provide proper coverage for assigning students' lockers and/or assist with related problems including locker thefts, opening, and searching of lockers. [Daily, 5%]
- Coordinate, greet, direct, or supervise visitors in the building and grounds. [Daily, 5%]
- Monitor student behavior and activities outside the classroom. [Daily, 5%]
- Attend to staff, student, and parent/guardian concerns within a professional manner. [Daily, 5%]
- Plan, organize, and provide supervision for special events on campus. [Monthly, 5%]
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily, 5%]
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3) years of any security, police, or military security/defense experience.
- Minimum age of 21 years old.
- Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Basic knowledge of Raptor® Visitor Management and other security systems used within the District.

- Punctuality to flexible hours and shift work.
- Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
All certifications, licenses, and registrations must be valid and unexpired.
- Colorado driver’s license.
- CPR and First Aid certification required within the first year of employment.
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification required within the first year of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three (3) years of supervisory experience.
- Experience working with groups of elementary, middle, and/or high school students.
- Experience with emergency response.
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Basic knowledge of district policies and procedures.
- Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Extremely heavy physical effort (lifting over 50 pounds).
