    JOB TITLE: Recreation Director Reports to: Director of City Services

    Close Date: April 29, 2024

    Department: City Services / Recreation

    Job Summary: provides recreation opportunities for the citizens of Soda Springs and organizes volunteers to assist with activities for children and adults.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Promote, schedule and coordinate multiple youth & adult recreational activities (i.e. baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball, and soccer, etc.)
    • Organize a location at City Hall for registrations to take place and information to be provided.
    • Recruit, train, supervise and assist volunteers. (i.e. coaches, referees, etc.).
    • Schedule, maintain and upgrade parks and various recreational facilities and equipment as needed for the various athletic programs.
    • Coordinate field and maintenance schedules, and gym practice schedules.
    • Distribute program flyers and schedules to coaches and participants.
    • Opens, closes and cleans gyms before and after use, and monitors gym activities.
    • Performs various duties for the parks department (i.e. cleaning, mowing, safety inspection, restroom cleaning, etc.)
    • Prepare and follow an annual budget and seek creative funding through grants and sponsorships.
    • Work evenings and weekends as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • 2 years post high school education or experience in recreation or parks management.
    • Excellent public relation skills.
    • Must have good understanding of Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel and the Internet and be able to operate office equipment (i.e. telephone, fax, copier, computer, printer, etc.)
    • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.
    • Ability to perform the required work safely and demand the same from direct reports and other City employees.
    • Ability to resolve problems, and to resolve conflict situations.
    • Ability to communicate professionally (hearing and speech) with individuals in person and over the telephone.
    • Ability to perform strenuous manual labor for extended periods of time (i.e., lifting 50 lbs, mowing, digging, etc.) and under varying climactic conditions.
    • Administration skills (i.e. budgets, inventorying and ordering, planning of activities, etc.)
    • Proven leadership ability
    • Possession of a valid driver's license
    • Contingent on successful drug screening and background check

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: From $18.00 per hour

    Expected hours: 40 per week
