Executive Director, Campus Life and Conduct

    Summary Description: The Executive Director for Campus Life and Conduct reports to the
    Associate Vice President for Culture and Community. The Executive Director provides vision,
    leadership, strategic direction, and overall administration for Student Involvement, Residence
    Life, Dining Services, and Student Conduct. Through these offices and through other co-curricular
    programs in the areas of Greek Life, Leadership Development, Commuter Relations, New
    Student Orientation, and Student Conduct, they work to advance the mission of the College by
    fostering a sense of community, respect for diversity, healthy choices, spiritual maturity, and
    personal responsibility among students.

    Description of Duties/Responsibilities:

    Essential Functions

    1. Provides overall direction, leadership, and supervision for Residence Life, Student
    Involvement, Dining Services and Student Conduct on all budgetary, programmatic, and
    student conduct matters.

    2. Provides direct supervision and evaluation of the Director of Residence Life, Director of
    Student Involvement, and Campus Life Coordinator.

    3. Coordinates and serves on the campus on-call team for student concerns.
    4. Ensures that appropriate assessment of campus life plans and programs occurs through

    appropriate data collection and analysis.
    5. Coordinates the annual co-curricular programming calendar with campus divisions.
    6. Monitors budgeting and prepares, with directors, future budgets for all departments under

    their supervision.
    7. Conducts performance evaluations for direct reports, including departmental directors;

    assists departmental directors in evaluating performance of staff.
    8. Serves as the advisor to the Student Government Association.
    9. Serves as chief student conduct officer for the College in student-related matters and oversees

    the functioning of the student conduct system. Conducts proper training and supervision of
    residential, Greek, and campus judicial boards.

    10. Works closely with the Offices of Public Safety and Plant Operations on the safety,
    maintenance, and housekeeping of the residence halls.

    11. Facilitates professional staff development opportunities for direct reports.
    12. Reviews, revises, and publishes the Spring Hill College Student Handbook.
    13. Maintains appropriate knowledge of and involvement with professional organizations and

    current publications in the Student Life field.
    14. Serves as the primary liaison with the Campus Dining Director with Aramark Dining

    Services.
    15. Receives and responds to student and parent concerns regarding residence life, student

    involvement, and student conduct.



    Related Functions

    1. Attends student, alumni, development, parent, civic, and inter-collegiate events as the
    representative of Campus Life and/or the College.

    2. Conducts the mandated biennial review of student alcohol policies.
    3. Maintains and updates student conduct software.
    4. Serves on the BadgerWay support team, assisting in outreach to at-risk students.
    5. Delivers presentations on campus for Badger Connection, Admissions open houses, orientation, and

    family weekend.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must possess these knowledge, skills, and abilities or
    be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job
    with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

    1. Prepared to support and strengthen the Jesuit, Catholic mission of the College. Specifically,
    they should be dedicated to fostering an environment of living and learning excellence.

    2. Knowledge of and ability to articulate and apply accepted student development and leadership
    principles and theories and to utilize appropriate administrative, leadership, training,
    organizational, evaluative, and policy-making skills to maintain the efficient operations.

    3. Ability to relate to, motivate, lead, and serve as an appropriate role model for college students.
    4. Ability to represent Spring Hill College and to communicate effectively in individual and

    group settings; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to effectively present information and
    respond to questions from a variety of constituents.

    5. Ability to work collaboratively within and across departments and divisions to enhance
    the environment for student involvement and learning.

    6. Knowledge of and ability to perform management and supervisory functions; ability to organize
    and conduct professional staff hiring and training, and to supervise and conduct staff
    evaluations; ability to train and motivate staff and students in leadership, organizational skills,
    communication skills, etc.

    7. Ability to manage and develop budgets.
    8. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
    9. Ability to work nights and weekends as appropriate; ability to travel to represent the College in

    or out of town.

    Qualification Standards: Master's degree in student personnel administration, counselor education
    or related field required (doctorate preferred). Four to six years of experience in higher education
    Student Affairs positions, with two to four years of successful experience at the level of Director
    higher. Proven ability to develop and supervise student development programs. Viable candidates
    should be prepared to support and strengthen the Jesuit, Catholic mission of the College.
    Other considerations:

    • Hiring process includes, e.g., a criminal history background search.
    • This person is considered a responsible employee in accordance with College Title IX policies
    and will serve as a deputy coordinator.
    • This position has an option to live on campus.
