Job Summary and Qualifications

As Director of Campus Safety and Security at Galen College of Nursing is responsible for overseeing and implementing comprehensive safety and security programs within the college at each campus location. This role requires an individual with strong organizational and interpersonal skills who can effectively collaborate with various stakeholders to create a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

• Develop and implement a strategic vision for campus safety aligned with the overall mission and goals of the college.
• Regularly assess and update safety policies and procedures to ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices.
• Provide response coordination with emergency situations and safety or security incidents.
• Develop and strengthen campus safety protocols and emergency responses, ensuring regular training occurs for new and existing colleagues in matters of safety and emergencies.
• Oversee the implementation and maintenance of security systems, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, and alarm systems, in collaboration with IT to ensure security of electronic systems and data.
• Oversee the College’s emergency management alert systems, ensuring outreach campaigns are effective in reaching stakeholders.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and other campus stakeholders to enhance community safety awareness and reporting of risk incidents.
• Organize and participate in safety education programs and training sessions for the campus community.
• Conduct regular risk assessments of campus facilities and activities to identify potential safety hazards or security vulnerabilities.
• Advise College and campus leaders and staff in matters related to safety.
• Ensure compliance with relevant federal, state, and local safety regulations. Prepare and submit timely reports on campus safety incidents, trends, and compliance activities.

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, security management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). Experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
• Proven experience in campus safety, law enforcement, or a related field, including experience in a leadership role.
• Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to campus safety and security.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and crisis management skills.
