Capacity Planning Supervisor leads a capacity planning team to plan and monitor an organization's operating limits and capacities. Forecasts and plans capacity requirements to align with production schedules, resource levels, and inventory demand. Being a Capacity Planning Supervisor identifies and troubleshoots production issues or bottlenecks that impact plant capacity. Coordinates with internal stakeholders to understand future plans and develop responsive capacity forecasting. Additionally, Capacity Planning Supervisor utilizes production metrics and manufacturing research to develop insights on processes or equipment and recommend improvements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Capacity Planning Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Capacity Planning Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. THE ROLE The Transportation Planning Assistant 2 will assist in the daily operations of the Public Outreach and Engagement Unit, assisting project teams in scheduling public informational meetings and hearings, and providing support and logistics associated with both in-person and virtual meetings.�This new team will lead the day-to-day operations of a centralized public outreach and engagement system that will be used for public informational meetings as well as gathering public comment and feedback on proposed projects throughout the Department.�Travel primarily within the State will be necessary, along with the need to maintain a valid CT driver’s license.� This position will require attendance at Public Informational Meetings with the public, after normal working hours.� � Specific Duties for this position include:�� Aiding the unit in establishment and testing of the PIMA system Assisting in developing intake forms and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)’s for the operation of the PIMA system Performing daily operations associated with entering projects into the PIMA system Providing logistical preparation support to teams for Virtual and in-person Public Informational Meetings, Hearings, and other outreach activities Providing logistical support in running Public Informational Meetings, Hearings, and other outreach activities Compiling and analyzing data� Assisting with preparation and dissemination of information Gathering and aiding in responding to public comments Tracking community engagement Collaboration across Bureaus to ensure equity is considered and tracked for public outreach efforts� POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:� Full-time, 40 hours per week Monday through Friday� First shift Location: Newington, CT� P-4 (Engineering and Scientific) bargaining unit Reports to a Transportation Planner or employee of a higher grade and works more independently with acquired experience This position is eligible to apply for telework after successful completion of the working test period, and thereafter, in accordance with the Telework Policy.     PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

    In the Department of Transportation this class is accountable for independently performing a full range of basic tasks in transportation planning, analyses and evaluation.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

    Assists in the completion of assignments relating to transportation planning programs and schedules; Collects and updates data, maintains records and assists in the review and analysis of statistical data pertaining to transportation needs, programs, projects and schedules, population, urban and suburban changes and land use relative to transportation; Prepares charts, maps, graphs, diagrams and other illustrative materials;� Prepares reports and publications; Provides information to regional planning agencies; May perform field inventories; Performs related duties as required.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

    Knowledge of the principles of research methods used in planning; standard elementary statistical procedures used in the collection and tabulation of data; the objectives of local, regional or State transportation planning; the preparation of planning reports; Skills interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills; Ability to read maps and construction plans; utilize computer software.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

    Three (3) years of experience in transportation planning related activities with a recognized transportation or planning agency, consulting firm or similar planning organization.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED

    College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years. For state employees two (2) years of experience as a Transportation Planning Assistant 1 may be substituted for the General Experience. For state employees one (1) year of experience as a Transportation Engineer Technician may be substituted for the General Experience.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience with communication and public outreach necessary to fulfill federal and state requirements for transportation projects funded by FHWA, FTA, and FRA Experience developing and meeting project schedules, utilizing organizational skills Experience developing, maintaining, and enhancing communication and relationships internally in an organization as well as with representatives of other organizations, stakeholders, and the general public Experience analyzing data and demographic information Bi-lingual with the ability to translate to and from Spanish or other languages. Experience utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite of applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

    Incumbents in this class may be required to travel. Incumbents in this class may be required to possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Incumbents in this class may be exposed to some danger of injury or physical harm from highway, railway or construction environments and a moderate degree of discomfort from exposure to year-round weather conditions.
