The Capital Projects Manager will support the planning, execution, and return on investment of Capital Projects at Toyo North America (TNA). This position will work with and provide direction and administrative support to project owners and project managers to facilitate successful project creation and completion while providing transparency and visibility to stakeholders. The Capital Project Manager will be responsible for arranging and leading capital project meetings, reporting on project budgets, maintaining and providing documentation, and acting as the liaison between TNA and Toyo management in Japan.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Reviewing and preparing capital project submissions to the Toyo approval process. Managing the approval process in keeping with Toyo standards and good capital governance.
- Reviewing, preparing, and maintaining records of contracts with vendors and contractors involved in capital expense.
- Sharing documents with stakeholders and internal teams.
- Measuring and reporting on project progress and performance metrics.
- Monitoring and reporting on project budgets and expenditures.
- Presenting at Capital Project Meetings and reporting on Capital Project status to other Toyo management, including corporate headquarters in Japan.
- Maintaining a project calendar.
- Reviewing capital project purchase orders and invoices.
- Review project bid process and maintain bid documentation.
- Evaluating project ROI before submission and after completion.
- Provide insightful leadership and thoughtful analysis as a project coordinator of strategic and tactical enterprise-wide initiatives. This requires the ability to act as the liaison between multiple operations and business unit leaders.
- Act as a facilitator among various organizational areas in order to solicit information and discover risks and gaps within a potential project. This may extend into the research of new technologies and a complete cost-benefit analysis to advise management on the project's expected opportunities for the company.
- Coordinate development of and actively manage implementation of best practice standards for project engineering processes from project inception through execution and closeout.
- Partner with affected corporate groups such as Sourcing and Risk Management to ensure related requirements and best practices are incorporated.
- Provide durable reference standards and templates for key activities.
- Provide support, guidance, and mentoring to new engineers as needed.
- Partner with appropriate resources to establish minimum standards for engineering "maintenance deliverables" to accompany new equipment and significant equipment modifications. Provide leadership and guidance to ensure each completed project delivers the documentation and details necessary to maintain the equipment at the highest levels to the internal customer.
- Provide oversite guidance on the engineering and costing of major capital project opportunities by developing project proposal analysis documents for presentations to upper management.
- As necessary, review and/or assist with Capital and Expense project proposal preparation, including the development of and compliance auditing of project proposal preparation standards.
- Serve on committees, task forces, and special project teams as needed.
- Work with Division management on various projects, issues, and strategic planning as requested.

- Requires ability to handle confidential assignments and information.
- Strong skills in relationship management, negotiation, project management, business strategy, analysis, and business systems.
- Possess an in-depth understanding of financial statements, with the ability to perform strategic financial analysis.
- Occasional domestic and/or international travel required.
- Requires availability to work outside of regular business hours to accommodate meetings with Japan.
- The candidate must have good written and verbal communication skills in English and Japanese. The candidate must also be confident in leading meetings and speaking to groups in both English and Japanese. The candidate must also understand and be able to navigate American and Japanese cultures.
