The Career Advisor organizes workshops to develop the necessary skills associated with career development. Assists and counsels students with their transitions to employment. Being a Career Advisor develops student advising resources and facilitation guides. Supports on-campus recruiting efforts and programs involving student and employee interactions. In addition, Career Advisor typically requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Being a Career Advisor gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.   • Career Team is looking to hire a dynamic Career Advisor to work with the youth population to provide career counseling and intensive case management to obtain livable wage employment. The ideal candidate will be able to work well autonomously and be able to maintain and strengthen partnerships with existing partners. Work will be performed under the WIOA (Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act) Program. If you have the heart to serve this community and the drive to do so. We want to meet you. Experience is not mandatory; however, character is. It is highly encouraged to research WorkSource and the WIOA services.

    The selected candidate will be required to perform 100% of the work onsite at the listed location.

    Your Impact on Career TEAM’s Success:

    • Provide intensive case management services to registered customers within the One-Stop system;
    • Complete intake and eligibility determination for the workforce program. Assess jobseekers’ employment and training needs and abilities through interviewing, testing, and other methods;
    • Enter data into and otherwise use and process clients through any participant information system as required, and any other database as required by the One-Stop system;
    • Guide jobseekers through the preparation of individual employment plans (IEP) based on their specific occupational goals;
    • Counsel clients on available job opportunities, training programs, and other services;
    • Complete Individual Training Account (ITA) vouchers, and other documents required for clients entering training;
    • Refer individuals to appropriate services, training programs, or job opportunities and follow up on those activities;
    • Conduct orientation sessions, workshops, job clubs, and other group presentations for clients;
    • Follow all policies, procedures, and regulations related to eligibility documentation to ensure that case files have originals and/or copies of eligibility documentation;
    • Maintain accurate individual case files for each registered customer assuring that each file contains all required eligibility documents and meets compliance requirements;
    • Develop a comprehensive Individual Employment Plan (IEP) for all customers;
    • Provide referral and tracking of eligible customers into contracted programs provided on-site at the One-Stop centers and/or located in the community in accordance with established contracts;
    • Meet and/or exceed program benchmarks. Participate in all staff-related events as required including but not limited to training, staff meetings, and individual supervision;
    • Complete all required reports;
    • Approach each day and task with a “ZAG” mindset;
    • Other duties and projects as needed.

    To Qualify for This Role, You Must Have:

    • High School Diploma/GED required;
    • 1 years of work experience combining elements of training, counseling, case management, or other services;
    • 1 years of case management experience and the ability to read and interpret policies and procedures;
    • 1 years of experience with computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Google suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Mail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Drive;
    • 1 years of demonstrated ability working in a dynamic team environment with an aptitude for communication, interpersonal skills to work cooperatively with others, show courteousness, and having a high level of professionalism;
    • A demonstrated ability to work in a variety of settings with a culturally-diverse customer base with the ability to be culturally sensitive;
    • A demonstrated ability to serve as a role model to customers and motivate them toward achieving goals;
    • Exceptional time management skills to meet deadlines and work under pressure;
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
    • A Valid Driver’s License in good standing and reliable transportation.

    Additional Skills/Knowledge Career TEAM Would Love for This Role:

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
    • Experience and knowledge of WIOA and TANF workforce development contracts/programs;
    • Astounding ability to multitask and be proactive.

    Hourly Wage: $18.26/hour

    Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Career TEAM offers a competitive benefits package including healthcare, dental, and personal/vacation time
