Job Summary:
The Director of Support Services and Activities has oversight of Yellowstone’s supporting services, horse operation, transportation, and marina operations.
The Details:Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Schedule: ~40 Hours Per WeekHousing: Company housing is not provided for this position, but may be considered based on future availability. Employee may need to secure housing in Gardiner, Emigrant, or Livingston, MT

Responsibilities
- Oversight of the following sub-departments:
- Support Services-Furniture repair and renovation, print shop, property control, lost and found, mail distribution, recycling, office equipment maintenance and contracts, training of seasonal and full time employees.
- Transportation-Summer and winter visitor transportation services, oversight of internal dispatching support, employee transportation, fleet maintenance, training of seasonal and full time employees, ensuring compliance with DOT requirements.
- Marina-Summer marina operation at Bridge Bay, boat maintenance and repairs, training of seasonal employees, ensuring compliance with Coast Guard requirements.
- Corrals-Summer horse operations, trail maintenance and repairs, training of seasonal and full time employees, and oversight of related contracts to support the department.
- Establish a proven fleet maintenance program that tracks, documents, and allows for forecasting of projected expenses related to all company vehicles. Create and administer a cyclic 5 year evaluation program of company vehicles. Work closely with Sustainability to ensure new vehicles comply with Company and contractual requirements.
- Coordinating and communicating with all levels of management in Yellowstone. Communicating with the National Park Service in areas related to Support Services and Activities.
- Creation, administration, and oversight of annual financial and capital plans for the department.
- Responsible for vehicle specification and procurement for all Yellowstone departments.
- Work with Human Resources to oversee and maintain an excellent relationship with the unionized mechanics.
- Work with Marketing and Operations to promote and provide summer and winter transportation activities for guests.
- Work with Human Resources and Operations to coordinate and provide employee transportation including transportation outside of Yellowstone to gateway communities, airports, bus stations, or other needed destinations.
- Work with Engineering and Sustainability to research, test, and implement proactive environmental technologies and procedures not only for Yellowstone operations but also to share with other applicable Xanterra operations.
- Participate in field inspections of facilities for the department. Follow up on inspections and evaluations to ensure any noted deficiencies are immediately corrected.
- Incorporate COI practices into management of department responsibilities.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with National Park Service staff, state and federal government agencies, and outside stakeholders.
- Responsible for the selection and monitoring of all third party contractors needed to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Maintain records and reports for compliance with all agencies having jurisdiction, including National Park Service, and the States of Montana and Wyoming transportation agencies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Full service hospitality management experience with five to seven years of senior level/executive leadership experience preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in technical writing and public speaking.
- Strong business acumen required, demonstrating strategic thinking, financial literacy, and the ability to make informed decisions that align with organizational goals
- Experience introducing, promoting and driving change.
- Must be highly-organized and have strong administrative skills
- Experience in strategic and long term planning.
- Knowledge and understanding of the National Park Service’s “NPS-48 Concessions Management Guidelines”.
- Familiarity with laws and regulations as they relate to the hospitality industry, and an ability to keep abreast of this developing and complex field.
- Proven ability to build productive relationships by positively interacting with coworkers and clients.
- Ability to live in a remote, seasonally cold, rural environment
- Advanced computer skills
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
Physical Requirements include:
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to work in a higher altitude environment with changing weather conditions and temperatures.
- Ability to climb stairs.
- Ability to lift boxes of materials in weight up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to walk, reach, kneel, crawl, lay on stomach, and/or stand as necessary to perform job duties as noted.
