Description

Purpose:

Loading and transporting nursing home residents, swing bed patients and acute care patients to medical appointments and various activities and events in a safe manner; meeting the requirements of all driving regulations established by the State of Idaho. This position is only on an as needed basis.

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

1. Employee authorized to operate Power County Hospital District vehicles will be responsible for vehicle safety checks before and after each use.
2. Employee will report any mechanical problems with the vehicle or accidents to the Maintenance Department immediately.
3. Employee will load all patients/residents, fasten necessary seat belt and wheel chair fasteners/straps to ensure all occupants are properly fastened with approved safety restraints prior to transport.
4. Employee will ensure that regular maintenance and oil changes occur.

Education, Training, and Experience:

1. Must have a valid state issued driver’s license.
2. Successful completion of Department of Motor Vehicle license check and insurance coverage through the hospital district prior to driving with patients/residents
3. Understands proper way to operate and load residents/patients in wheelchairs using vehicle lift.
4. Must be dependable, personable, and courteous
5. Must be able to read, write and follow verbal and written directions.
