Carpenter constructs, maintains, and remodels buildings or related structures. Installs, fixes, or modifies all aspects of a building, including walls, ceilings, floors, and stairs, as well as related structures like railings, doors, windows, and air conditioning systems. Being a Carpenter follows blueprints and plans to ensure requirements and specifications are met. Observes all worksite safety procedures and guidelines. Additionally, Carpenter inspects buildings to determine repair that needs to be done. An apprenticeship and/or formal training may be required. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Carpenter works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Since 1988, Carpenter’s Shelter has met the immediate needs of people experiencing homelessness in the City of Alexandria. Through the operation of emergency shelter, day shelter, and winter shelter as well as rapid rehousing and permanent supportive housing programs, Carpenter’s Shelter identifies housing solutions and supports sustainable independence for more than 700 individuals and families each year.
TITLE: Permanent Supportive Housing Case Manager
REPORTS TO: Therapeutic Services Director
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Permanent Supportive Housing Case Manageris responsible for providing services to the persons residing in permanent supportive housing units, located in the Bloom and the community. PSH residents may present with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or other co-occurring issue which have impacted their ability to obtain/maintain permanent housing. The Permanent Supportive Housing Case Manager provides individualized services, tailored to each client, and general supports related to budgeting, rent payment, connection to resources, maintaining a household, and other areas which support their basic needs and enable them to remain stably housed. The Permanent Supportive Housing Case Manager is responsible for collaborating with representatives from local government, other non-profit agencies, and the faith community.
