Job Summary:
As a Cartographic Technician, you will be responsible for producing and assisting in developing cartographic maps and displays. This includes creating product requirements, maps, graphics, display, and web map services, and coordinating with team members of various GIS specialist roles, project managers, and clients.

Compensation:
- Non-Exempt
- Starting at $21-$41 per hour (Equivalent to $45,000 to $85,000 per year) Chloeta reserves the right to offer any candidate above or below the listed compensation amount based on experience or business needs.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist in producing and developing cartographic maps and displays for projects.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control checks on cartographic products to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinating with team members of various GIS specialist roles, project managers, and clients.
- Participate in developing and maintaining company-wide cartographic standards and guidelines.
- Ensuring file naming conventions and file storage rules and specifications are met.
- Preparing scientific reports, technical reports, or presentation materials as needed.
- Creating custom hardcopy and digital cartographic products that include thematic mapping.
- Using the ESRI ArcGIS Desktop Suite or ArcGIS Pro and all associated data types (vector, raster), and working with multiple imagery types.
- Using Adobe Suite or other graphic design software applied to cartography.
- Stay up to date on cartographic trends and best practices.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of cartographic principles, GIS, and remote sensing.
- Experience with using color theory, layout and composition, visual hierarchy, and data visualization in maps.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Education and Experience:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree related to geography, GIS, cartography, or physical/biological/environmental discipline. The degree includes emphasis or coursework in geospatial disciplines such as map production and design.
- Required: Two (2) years of professional experience with creating custom hardcopy and digital cartographic products that includes thematic mapping.
- Required: Professional experience in the use of the ESRI ArcGIS Desktop Suite or ArcGIS Pro and all associated data types (vector, raster), and working with multiple imagery types.
- Required: Professional experience using the Adobe Suite or other graphic design software applied to cartography.

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to lift at least 15 pounds.
- This job operates in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, etc
