  • The Department of Mental Health (DMH) Metro Boston Fuller Site is seeking a Human Services Coordinator II (HSC II). The HSC II will provide leadership, supervision, and support to a team of Human Service coordinators.

    The Case Management Supervisor is responsible for administrative, clinical, and managerial supervision of assigned case managers, ensuring that all DMH regulations and Human Resources guidelines are followed. The Case Management Supervisor is also responsible for oversight of assigned, contracted community programs (i.e., day programming, community outreach) that are funded through the Fuller Bay Cove Site. The Case Manager Supervisor also participates in multiple work groups that are integral parts of the service delivery system for the Fuller Bay Cove Site.

    Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general Summary and not all inclusive):

    • Oversee the administrative and clinical supervision of case managers through individual supervision, administrative meetings, documentation review, and recording and evaluation subordinates’ performance; initiating disciplinary action, if needed; monitoring the ISP process to ensure timelines and regulations are met; ensuring the quality of documentation; providing direction and developing strategies toward resolution of challenging case managed cases.
    • Monitor DMH funded contracts. These monitoring roles entail entering enrollments and discharges into MHIS, reviewing and approving contract billing, monitoring services, participating in agency wide initiatives, and problem-solving with vendor.
    • Generate statistical outcome reports to monitor compliance indicators, trends, and highlight improvement opportunities.
    • Participate in Site-based meetings including Leadership, Service Authorization, Staff Meeting, as well as Continuing Care Risk Reviews on as needed basis.
    • Serve as Continuing Care Bed Coordinator – In this role the supervisor will receive, review, and assess all state hospital referrals received at the Site. In addition to the initial assessment and coordination, the coordinator will have weekly contact with each inpatient social worker/inpt team and enter collected data in the statewide DMH admission referral tracking system, the supervisor will collaborate with Site and Area Leadership as needed in regard to individuals waiting for state hospital.
    • Performs related duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications:

    • Understanding of the psychosocial problems of those with mental/emotional disorders
    • Knowledge of the types of program and services available to the mentally ill population
    • Awareness of methods of general report writing
    • Knowledge of principles and practices of crisis intervention
    • Ability to understand, explain, and apply the laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, specifications, standards, and guidelines governing agency and unit activities
    • Capacity to make case assessments by examining records and documents and through questioning and observing clients
    • Ability to supervise, including planning and assigning work according to the nature of the job to be accomplished, the capabilities of subordinates and available resources; controlling work through periodic reviews and or evaluations; determining subordinates

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience working with individuals with serious, persistent mental illness, substance abuse and/or who have experienced homelessness.
    • Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.

    Schedule: This position is 40 hours per week, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

    The Dr. Solomon Carter Fuller Mental health Center, (Fuller) 60 bed inpatient psychiatric facility provides comprehensive, information and timely forensic evaluations for individuals to determine pre-trial competency and or criminal responsibility.     Minimum Entrance Requirements:

    Based on assignment as a Mental Health Case Manager or Forensic Transition Team Coordinator, within the Department of Mental Health, a Bachelor's degree or higher in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling education, education of the physically or emotionally handicapped, education of the multiple handicapped, education of the learning disabled, human services, rehabilitation counseling, education or other a related field is required.

    In addition applicants must have at least four (4) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, case management of clinical/therapeutic experience.

    Based on assignment, travel may be required. Incumbents who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid motor vehicle driver's license at a class level specific to assignment.
