POSITION SUMMARY:
Manages the overall pharmacy to maintain compliance regulations, develop and schedule support staff, maintain a safe workplace, and apply generally accepted business practices in regards to payroll, inventory, accounts receivables and payables.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Maintains compliance with state, federal, and local administrative code in addition to the implementation of company policy, accreditation standards, and best practice standards.
· Responsible for observing and documenting employee behavior or actions regarded as contrary to the Badger Pharmacy Handbook and work with the employee to develop corrective action plans before the need for disciplinary action.
· Fully and personally support and maintain all areas of the Badger Pharmacy Handbook through his or her own actions and comments.
· Monitors supportive software, internet resource, and equipment for proper functionality and data accuracy relative to acceptable professional and business practices reporting dysfunction immediately to support services.
· Implements policy and procedures relative to good business practices including the reporting of accurate sales, inventory, cost of goods, and payroll.
· Ensures the inventory is maintained at adequate business levels and used in as “first in, first out”. Continually monitors inventory to minimize excess, waste and spoilage.
· Maintains a safe business and work environment for customers and employees including prompt reporting of needed repairs to the premises or equipment and any worker or customer related injury.
· Encourages a non-punitive reporting environment of all incidents relating to customer/worker injury, adverse drug reactions, dispensing error, or sentinel events.
· Promptly addresses customer complaints regarding incidental breakdowns in quality pharmacy or business practices mediating satisfying resolutions, creating prevention measures including local policy and staff development.
· Participates in ongoing quality improvement projects including the development and implantation of new policies, tracking and record keeping, and meetings outside the regularly schedule work day.
· Oversees the pharmacy is adequately staffed to meet customer needs and the competency/training of support staff including the continual and annual review of all employees.
· When applicable, develops corrective action plans for support staff as a part of their continual review. Capable of effective communication with employees regarding their development, and if necessary, able to execute disciplinary action up to and including termination.
· Completes and reviews an annual review of each employee under his/her management to access competency and opportunity for advancement or improvement.
· Implements and cooperates with sales and marketing initiatives that foster continued business growth and public relations.
