    The Department of Nutrition in the School of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University () invites applications for two full-time,12-month, non-tenure track faculty, at the rank of instructor. Candidates must hold a MS degree in nutrition from an institution accredited by the Council for Higher Education () with at least seven years of professional experience. Candidate should also hold the credentials of a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN), currently licensed in the state of Ohio. The professional experience should include all of the following areas: collegiate level teaching, demonstrated leadership in culinary education both in a teaching kitchen and via live-streaming, recent clinical nutrition counseling experience in a hospital, or private practice setting , experienced presenting to diverse professional and community audiences, and research experience in food, culinary or nutrition interventions.

    The successful candidate will teach undergraduate, graduate, and medical students, as well as healthcare professionals and diverse populations, representing about 70% of their time. Responsibilities also include student advising/mentoring, professional service at the local and national levels, development of culinary/nutrition education/wellness/health promotion programming to diverse audiences including in the Jack, Joseph, Morton Mandel Wellness Pathway for medical students. All faculty are expected to engage in service contributing to continued development of the profession, the CWRU Nutrition Department and School of Medicine. Experience in/ or capacity for curriculum development in innovative food/nutrition areas is highly desired. All candidates must provide at least 2 years of official teaching evaluations from the institutions where they have taught.

    The successful candidate is also expected to pursue research leading to publications in quality refereed journals through independent and/or research collaborations with other faculty. Research mentoring and support will be available to pursue research initiatives. Obtaining external funding is encouraged and can result in teaching commitment reductions.

    Secondary appointments in other departments within the University may be arranged. Salary and benefits are excellent and salary commensurate with experience.

    The Department is highly interdisciplinary with 22 faculty members in nutrition, public and community health, metabolism, basic and translational biomedical sciences, with research ranging from molecular nutrition to clinical and community intervention studies to dissemination and implementation science. Eight faculty members are RDNs. The Department has a strong undergraduate program and several master's level programs: nutrition and public health nutrition both offered with and without dietetic internships, general nutrition, dual degrees (MS/MPH), and systems biology and bioinformatics. The department also leads a highly subscribed "Wellness Pathway" within the medical school curriculum focused on lifestyle and culinary medicine and has an established PhD program in nutrition as well as systems biology and bioinformatics and is expanding its doctoral program in community and applied nutrition.

    Cleveland offers a rich and supportive environment for unique student experiential learning and community-based research opportunities. The individual will be encouraged to engage with colleagues at academic and research centers across campus, including the Prevention Research Center for Healthy Neighborhoods, Swetland Center for Environmental Health, Center for Reducing Health Disparities, and the Center for Community Health Integration, to name just a few. These centers have well-established partnerships with community organizations across the city, region and state, including pre-schools and secondary education schools, neighborhood clinics, emergency food programs, workplace wellness, churches, and neighborhood leadership groups.

    Case Western Reserve University and its associated hospitals (University Hospitals, including Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital and MacDonald Women's Hospital, MetroHealth Medical Center, Cleveland Clinic, and Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center) also provide a rich environment for experiential learning and clinical and population health research, through large research collaboratives such as the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center and with support and resources available through the Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative (CTSC, ).
