Summary
The Youth Care Worker is responsible for the direct supervision of all unaccompanied children. During their assigned shift, they always provide continuous direct line-of-sight supervision to their assigned children and ensure quality care for all children as well as follow all contract agency policies. Assist children with their valuables, clothing, laundry, and appointments. All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles, and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and high-quality standards for which Sunny Glen Children’s Home is recognized.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provides direct supervision of children in care and always maintains line-of-sight.
Provides oversight during recreation, mealtime, relaxing time, and play.
Assists during the transition and movement of children from one activity to the next and from one physical location to another.
Interacts with children in an appropriate manner, including playing games or during recreational time.
Ensures that all contract agency policies and procedures are adhered to.
Ensures quality care for all children residents and timely response to child’s needs.
Ensures that all children’s needs are provided for such as protection of valuables, clothing distribution, laundry services, etc.
Provides reports to the manager regarding children’s needs, activities, and documentation of time/location.
Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment for the children by following recommended and legal medical standards of care.
Alters assigned supervisor of any medical concerns in relation to the assigned children in care.
Attends appropriate internal and external meetings.
Able to evacuate at short notice to accompany residents possibly to a different city for several days at a time.
Performs duties in a safe matter.
Follows the corporate safety policy.
Participates and supports safety meetings, training, and goals.
Identifies close calls and/or safety concerns to supervisory.
Ensures the safety and security of all children and the operating conditions within the area of responsibility.
