POSITION TITLE: Pharmacy Clerk
REPORTS TO: Retail & Specialty Pharmacy Managers
SUPERVISOR OF: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
FUNCTION:
The pharmacy clerk is responsible to help insure smooth operation of customer flow and service through the pharmacy department. The goal of this position is to present a caring image to our customers by offering outstanding service and supporting our customer’s wishes. This includes greeting our customers in a friendly manner, accurate input of patent information, managing will call and answering the phone. The pharmacy clerk must comply with the company’s established policies and procedures.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Greets customers in a warm and friendly manner when they drop off prescriptions as well as when they pick up their prescriptions.
2. Expedites prescription processing by receiving new and refill prescriptions to be processed by a pharmacy technician.
3. Verifies name and address of person the new prescription is to be filled for, as well as, legibility of the prescriber’s name.
4. Verifies prescription insurance information.5. Manage Will Call system by a. Accurately loading and handing out prescriptions b. Reconciling the Will Call to the Rx30 software weekly c. Pull all Return to Stock items and process accordingly.
6. Arranges customer consultations with a pharmacist when required or requested.7. Schedules sit down consultations with a pharmacist for HRT, MTM, Smoking cessation or any other sit down consultation that is longer than 10 minutes.8. Ensures necessary communications are provided to the customer, such as wait time for prescription or if there is a delay, what the reason is for the delay.9. Hand out refilled prescriptions that do not require a pharmacist to dispense according to board of pharmacy guidelines.10. Offer OTC products that pair with certain prescriptions as directed by the pharmacists.11. Manage and distribute Pop Up file.12. Answer incoming phone calls in three rings or less. Direct calls to the pharmacist or technician when appropriate – new prescriptions, questions about medication, judgmental decisions, etc.13. Assist in maintenance of pharmacy to ensure efficient workflow - by filling bins with prescription vials and lids, filling printers with paper, ensuring a clean workspace, etc.14. Participate in team and one-on-one meetings.15. Any other task given by Pharmacy managers, General manager and CEO.
