Cashier - Grocery Store assists customers checking out in a store. Scans items, requests price checks, honors appropriate coupons, collects payment and gives change as appropriate. Being a Cashier - Grocery Store is responsible for counting contents of cash register drawer at the end of each shift. May bag items or perform other duties as needed. Additionally, Cashier - Grocery Store may help with store opening and closing procedures. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. Cashiers play a critical customer service role by providing customers with fast, friendly, accurate and safe service. They process Checkout and/or Return transactions, as well as monitor and maintain the Self-Checkout area. They proactively seek product/project knowledge to provide customers with information and identify selling opportunities. They follow all policies and procedures to ensure that shrink is minimized. A Head Cashier will position Cashiers and support them by expediting price checks, approving Point of Sale transactions and markdowns for mainline registers, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental. They provide first level escalation for customer issues and assist in the supervision, coaching and training of other Front End Associates by participating in the training of new Cashiers and utilizing all available tools to coach and develop other Cashiers. The preferred qualification for a Head Cashier is 1 years of Cashier experience.

1 Salaried associates are eligible for 2 weeks of vacation in their first year; FT hourly will be eligible for 40 hours of paid vacation time after 6 months of continuous service; PT will be eligible for 20 hours of paid vacation time after 6 months of continuous service; Temporary associates are not eligible for vacation benefits.
2 Sick time (Washington State, Spokane, and Tacoma)
Salary and Temporary associates will earn 1 hour of sick time for every 40 hours worked; FT associates will earn 1 hour of sick time for every 40 hours worked or 4 hours per month, whichever is greater; PT associates will earn 1 hour of sick time for every 40 hours worked or 2 hours per month, whichever is greater.

Salary and Temporary associates will earn 1 hour of sick time for every 30 hours worked; FT associates will earn 1 hour of sick time for every 30 hours worked or 4 hours per month, whichever is greater; PT associates will earn 1 hour of sick time for every 30 hours worked or 2 hours per month, whichever is greater.
