  • JOB DESCRIPTION

    This position is responsible for determining manufacturability and estimating costs for incoming product inquiries from the Sales and Marketing Team. The incumbent’s knowledge of the manufacturing and costing systems will be used to develop cost estimates for orders, which includes determining where products will be made, what tools are required, and what steps are necessary to successfully produce acceptable product. The incumbent works closely with and provides support to Customer Service, Sales and Marketing, Application Engineering, and Production.

    • Feasibility Analysis: Analyze new product manufacturability and estimates that include manufacturing processes to be used, tooling, finishing, packaging and special handling requirements as well as other undefined manufacturing requirements. (25%)
    • Product Costing: Analyze and develop product costing based on the product specifications. Analyze and update existing product costing data to ensure manufacturing changes that affect product costs are accurately captured. Requires in depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and routes. Provide technical support directly to Application Engineers, Sales and Marketing Managers, as well as interfacing with the customers to provide estimates and ensure the details of their product needs are captured correctly.     • Order Entry and Status Updates: Submit sales order entry and conduct necessary follow-up. Once all terms and conditions are accepted by the business, enter the customer purchase order and inform the customer of order acceptance. If product is to be sourced from an affiliate or an outside vendor, initiate purchase order and coordinate import of goods, insuring documents for imported products are handled properly so as to clear U.S. Customs and arrive at customer sites as scheduled. Follow up on all aspects of the order and interact with customers on all matters including order status, expediting requests, quality complaints, returned materials, credits and allowances. Monitor all orders to insure delivery schedules are met. Formally report progress and order status to the customer as necessary. Provide late order notifications to customers, troubleshoot problems that may occur from delays. (25%)
    • ERP Management: Create and maintain items, quotes, and sales orders in ERP system for new and existing products to ensure accurate product costing and provide critical data for the Production Planning Department. (15%)
    • Coordinate Shipments/Exports: When order is completed, work with the Pack and Ship Department to facilitate delivery to customer. Ensure all documentation is in order. (5%)
    • Provide responses to customer complaints and partner with the applicable stakeholders as necessary. Process RMAs and credits. Responsible for the documentation of best practices associated with assigned tasks. (5%)

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Associate's Degree in Mechanical Drafting or Engineering Discipline (Required)
    • 1-3 years Technical Engineering Experience
    • ERP and AutoCAD experience
    • Knowledge of company products to determine use of material substitutions and quality standards
    • Computer skills – high proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook
    • Must possess high degree of enthusiasm and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
    • Must have good oral and written communication skills, and good human relations abilities.
    • Must possess very strong problem solving skills. Must demonstrate the ability to solve problems in dynamic environments and be able to use critical reasoning to solve problems and make decisions.
