HERITAGE ARTS CERAMICS LAB ASSISTANT
Reports to: Director of Personal Enrichment/Heritage Arts
Hours: Part-time, 12 hours weekly
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Lab Assistant's primary function is to fire kiln loads of pottery, mix glazes, and clean and organize the lab as needed. The Lab Assistant will be responsible for selling clay, mixing of glazes, and providing technical assist as needed during scheduled shift.
• Kiln operation, including loading, unloading, and programming kilns
• Mixing of glazes, slips, and stains
• Reclaiming clay in a pug mill
• Clean and organize studio, kiln room, glaze lab
• Work with limited supervision
• Expected to work two Saturdays a month
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Basic knowledge of ceramics required
• Preferred: Master Potters Certificate, Associates in Fine Art, or higher
• Competent with hand tools, power tools, and cleaning equipment
• Must be able to lift 50lbs
