POSITION PURPOSE:
This .3 FTE Studio Art Technician supports the teaching and learning spaces for St. Olaf College’s studio art program, with a special focus on ceramics. This position requires a high degree of competency with ceramics processes, materials, and health and safety practices. The technician will work closely with our ceramics faculty, other technical staff, and student workers to support the ceramics curriculum and other aspects of the studio art curriculum as needed. A high degree of responsibility, flexibility, and awareness of the studio needs is required.

Shift: 15-16 hours per week; hours to be worked Monday through Friday, and scheduled to meet classroom teaching needs; occasional evening and weekend hours; this position is on-call for emergencies outside of regular working hours.

The Department of Art and Art History is an integral part of a vibrant liberal arts college. It is currently housed in the Center for Art and Dance, an Art, Art History and Dance complex, serving 200 undergraduate Art and Art History majors. The Department of Art and Art History is NASAD accredited and offers BA options in Studio Art, Art History, and Art Education. There are seven full-time faculty members, four part-time faculty members, and three staff members. The Center for Art and Dance is well equipped with labs for ceramics, drawing, new media, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture. Rolvaag Library houses an extensive collection of books, periodicals, and videos.
