Certified Medication Technician administers prescribed medications to patients and maintains related medical records under immediate supervision. Administers medications using proper dosage, route, timing, and techniques. Being a Certified Medication Technician verifies the identity of the patient receiving medication. Records the name of the drug, the dosage, the time of administration, and any other relevant information on specified forms or records. Additionally, Certified Medication Technician takes vital signs and observes patient to detect response to medication. Follows all relevant safety guidelines and regulations. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification. Typically reports to a registered nurse or manager. This position gives medications, follows medication treatment and charting, and knows residents and reactions to medications. Full-time 1st or 2nd shift position available at our Residential Center and 1st shift position available at our East Campus. Position will follow and abide by all guidelines. Must have 60 hour certified nurse aide course and medication administration course in the State of Iowa. Position will work rotating weekends and some holidays. Will be required to have the ability to lift 50 lbs.

Responsible to: Director of Nursing at Residential Center and Assistant Program Director at East Campus
Objective:
Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, this position has responsibility for the day to day care of assigned participants and the development and maintenance of self-help skills to those individuals. Within the framework of professional, regulatory, facility, and physician orders, administers medication to assigned individuals. Work with a licensed nurse.
