Certified Medication Technician administers prescribed medications to patients and maintains related medical records under immediate supervision. Administers medications using proper dosage, route, timing, and techniques. Being a Certified Medication Technician verifies the identity of the patient receiving medication. Records the name of the drug, the dosage, the time of administration, and any other relevant information on specified forms or records. Additionally, Certified Medication Technician takes vital signs and observes patient to detect response to medication. Follows all relevant safety guidelines and regulations. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification. Typically reports to a registered nurse or manager. Provide medication assistance documentation per policy and state requirements including: o Document medication assistance on Medication Assistance Records (MARs) immediately after assistance o Leaves no blanks on MARs o Document reasons for PRN medication on reverse of MARs and effectiveness of medication Must have criminal record clearance prior to initial presence in the community Must pass all health screen such as Physical, TB, Drug test Must have current basic first aid or obtain within first 30 days of hire.
