Bequest, one of the fastest-growing Asset Management companies located in Sarasota, FL, is seeking a talented Collections Manager to join our dynamic team. This position reports directly to one of our Managing Partners. This position is office based and not a remote position. The Collections Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the team to ensure efficient and effective collection efforts. The responsibilities are diverse and include a mix of strategic planning, team management, compliance oversight, and operational analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership and Management: Responsible for leading a 5 to 10 person team of collections specialists. Hire, train, and evaluate staff, ensuring the team is skilled, motivated, and performing well. This involves setting performance standards, monitoring progress, and providing feedback or coaching.
- Strategic Planning and Execution: Play a key role in developing strategies to improve collections processes and outcomes. This includes setting goals, analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to maximize debt recovery rates while maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Compliance and Legal Oversight: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to debt collection. This involves staying up-to-date with changes in legislation, implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance, and training staff in these requirements. Assist with handling disputes or complaints from debtors.
- Operational Efficiency: Analyze and improve operational processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness. This may involve adopting new technologies, streamlining workflows, or optimizing communication strategies with debtors.
- Financial Management: Involved in budgeting and financial planning for the collections operations, including setting targets for collections, monitoring performance against these targets, and managing costs.
- Client Liaison: Assist in onboarding and managing relationships with creditors who have outsourced their debt collection to the firm. Involves reporting on collection efforts, and ensuring the team meets or exceeds agreed-upon performance metrics.
- Technology and Systems Management: With the increasing role of technology in debt collection, you will oversee the implementation and management of collection software, databases, and communication tools ensuring these tools are used effectively to enhance collection efforts and data analysis.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all collection activities are carried out ethically and professionally, maintaining our values and mission. This involves but is not limited to monitoring calls and communications, resolving any issues that arise, and ensuring a high standard of customer service.
- Participate in ad hoc projects as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or related field preferred. Relevant management and leadership experience may be considered.
- Five years’ experience managing a large team in a high-volume Collections environment.
- Five years with mortgage collections and 3rd party collections.
- Familiarity with city, state, and federal rules and regulations related to collection activities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Advanced interpersonal oral and written communication skills
- Possess strong influencing and negotiation skills to work with internal and external resources.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
