    Job Summary and Qualifications

    As a Chef at our facility you will have the opportunity to be both a nutrition professional and a caregiver, providing delicious and nutritious meals for patients, staff, and others when they need it most. You will be joining a hard-working and compassionate team that is so vital for the day-to-day functions of our hospital. In this role:

    • You will act as primary lead in preparing high quality, high quantity nutritional food for delivery to patient units and for the cafeteria, ensuring food is prepared in a timely manner.
    • You will observe methods of food preparation and cooking, temperature of foods, sizes of portions, and garnishing of food to ensure food is prepared in prescribed manner.
    • You will assist with the creation and adjustment of standardized recipes and food production quality assurance.
    • You will assist with ordering food and supplies as needed and assuring quality storage of food.
    • You will review menus and analyze recipes to determine food, labor and overhead costs and assign prices to menu items.
    • You will maintain cleanliness in department through regular safety and sanitation audits and assign cleaning duties as needed.
    • You will ensure client, customer service/satisfaction by modeling efficient, friendly service and promoting that behavior in other staff members.
    • You will complete ongoing mandatory education regarding infection control, patient safety, quality improvement, and food safety standards.

    Qualifications:

    • Food Handlers Permit or ServSafe Certification required.
    • Graduate from a Culinary School program preferred.
    • Experience in healthcare food service or restaurant environment required.
    • Progressive culinary/kitchen management experience preferred.
    • High volume, complex food service operations experience preferred.

    • Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends, with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
