To be a Chemical Dependency Director typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Job Description:

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Environmental Chemical Program to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and overseeing our global chemical programs.

    This person will lead the environmental, industrial, health and safety regulation compliance for one or multiple facilities. Oversees the development, planning, and implementation of environmental, health and safety policies; develops procedures (chemical safety, ergonomics, illness and injury prevention, and building safety) used throughout the company. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to environmental safety and handles all contact with appropriate agencies. Coordinates licensed hazardous and radioactive waste disposal and monitors waste handling. Develops and oversees company training programs for employees in areas such as compliance training, lab/plant inspection, hazardous material handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene, and life safety. May be the point of contact for emergency personnel and lead workers compensation program administration. Ensures appropriate corrective action is taken where health and safety hazards exist. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Chemical Program Management: Oversee the management of the company's chemical programs.

    • Chemical Management System: Ownership: Own and lead the company's chemical management system.

    • Program/Project Management for Emerging Chemicals Manage programs and projects related to emerging chemicals.

    • System Designs Participation: Participate in system designs for chemical, waste, and treatment technologies.

    • External Supplier and Vendor Engagement Management: Lead external supplier and vendor engagement surrounding chemical usage, waste, and treatment technologies.

    • Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the subject matter authority on emerging waste and chemical treatment technology.

    Qualifications:

    • 10  years of Environmental and/or chemical management experience

    • Shown leadership and understanding of environmental and chemical management regulatory programs.

    • Global environmental and chemical management experience is preferred, specifically within the European and Asian regions.                                                      

    • Experience with Risk Management Plans and Process Safety Management are a plus

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering, master’s and or PhD is preferred.
