Chemical Engineer conducts research and development projects involving the study of chemical reactions and material properties to innovate and develop new products or optimize existing products. Designs experiments and builds prototypes and models used to investigate and support the development of improved chemicals, materials, products, and manufacturing processes. Being a Chemical Engineer compiles and analyzes testing data. Presents research results used to estimate costs, establish performance standards, identify solutions, and facilitate processes. Additionally, Chemical Engineer maintains lab and plant safety procedures for chemical storage, handling, transport, and disposal. Complies with all safety and environmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. Typically reports to a manager. The Chemical Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Our global chemical client is expanding their Chemical Production Team. This Process / Production Engineering role will have responsibility supporting plant unit operations, continuous improvements, process/ product startups, and all EHS/ PSM regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
--- Involved in day to day production support for the batch/ continuous chemical operations including troubleshooting and problem solving of process / equipment issues.
--- Track Production Yields and Perform Mass Balances
--- Handle process improvement projects.
--- Manages continuous improvements in safety, productivity, quality, reliability and cost.
--- Support process downtime and runtime.
--- Involved with production and material planning, packaging, shipping, and receiving.
--- Participate in PSM initiatives and audits.
--- Implement change management processes including MOC, PSSR, P&ID, hazard reviews, SOPs, SPC, SQC.
--- Lead incident investigations and problem-solving sessions (safety, quality, production, reliability, etc.)
--- Assist with Training of Operations Teams.
QUALIFICATIONS:
--- BS Chemical Engineering degree with 2 years experience as Process / Production Engineer in PSM/ chemical operating plants.
--- Preferred experience with Lean/ Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, PHA, MOC, P&IDs
--- Familiar with process unit operations and Controls; reactors, distillation, polymerization, esterification, filtration, dryers, twin-screw extrusion, heat treatment.
--- Able to work in the USA without sponsorship, now or in the future.
