Principal Chemical Engineer Responsibilities:
Mentor and guide three junior chemists/engineers while actively contributing to the advancement of chemical sensor design for medical device products.
Analyze, design, and select chemical sensor solutions, ensuring compliance with quality engineering specifications.
Apply foundational knowledge of chemical sensors and process controls to address engineering design needs, process requirements, and quality specifications.
Conduct technology analysis, including failure analysis, life predictions, biocompatibility, and chemical selection.
Support root cause analysis and processes related to chemical engineering design needs.
Document work in compliance with quality system requirements and industry standards (FDA, ISO, USP, etc.).
Collaborate cross-functionally to achieve technical program milestones, serving as a key technical owner for scoping and communicating technical goals.
Coach and mentor early career scientists and engineers, ensuring growth of competencies within the Chemical Technologies R&D group.
Must-Have:
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Experience working with chemical sensors and/or chemical process controls.
Nice-to-Have:
Experience in late-stage R&D and product launches, including manufacturing process scale up
Proficiency with paper-based sensors, Labview and/or PLC usage.
Electrochemical expertise and/or experience.
Background in highly regulated industries such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences.
Familiarity with DMAIC, Six Sigma, KT analysis, and/or DOE principles.
Experience in supporting and improving launched products.
