Chemical Plant Operator controls equipment and systems that process chemical substances and materials into products. Operates equipment and monitors the production process to ensure efficient and safe output. Being a Chemical Plant Operator follows standard operating procedures and performs in process quality checks to identify and resolve issues during processing. Troubleshoots problems with equipment, respond to system notifications and makes required adjustments as needed. Additionally, Chemical Plant Operator enters required production data and information into logs. May unload or move materials. Follows all procedures for safe material handling and required safety gear. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or team leader. The Chemical Plant Operator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Monday through Friday 3pm to Midnight (Occasional Saturday availability needed also)
Monday through Friday 11pm to 8am (Occasional Saturday availability needed also)
Starting Pay: $19 to 21/hr
Summary:
Your primary responsibility will be to treat wastewater, determine water quality, and release treated water to city publicly owned treatment works as well as maintenance, installation, and repairs of wastewater plant’s mechanical equipment including gas and diesel engines, heat exchangers, fans, valves, compressors, storage tanks, pumps of various types, overhead cranes and hoists.
