Operates equipment and monitors the production process to ensure efficient and safe output. Being a Chemical Plant Operator follows standard operating procedures and performs in process quality checks to identify and resolve issues during processing. Troubleshoots problems with equipment, respond to system notifications and makes required adjustments as needed. Additionally, Chemical Plant Operator enters required production data and information into logs. May unload or move materials. Follows all procedures for safe material handling and required safety gear. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or team leader. The Chemical Plant Operator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. The Environmental Wastewater Operator will work with the following equipment: Acid Waste Neutralization (AWN), Fluoride (F) Treatments system, Mixed Metals Treatment System, pH/F meters, equalization systems, pumps, mixers, bag filters, filter press, clarifier, sand filter, and other waste treatment equipment (possibly resin columns, regeneration system). An Environmental Wastewater Technician has the responsibility of operating the waste treatment system under routine and non-routine conditions. Will work with hazardous chemicals/waste while performing daily job duties.
Wastewater Operators will undergo Chemical Handling training prior to the start of performing these duties and will actively participate in ongoing hazardous waste and chemical handling training. Must be available for 24/7 emergency response to spills associated with these systems.
