Chemical Technician determines the physical and chemical properties of compounds and materials using quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis. Performs a variety of chemical tests using instrumental methods and standard test equipment. Being a Chemical Technician prepares materials for laboratory examination and conducts quality, safety, and compliance assessments. Follows established SOPs. Additionally, Chemical Technician sets up and maintains lab equipment. Records and tabulates data and documents observations and results. Requires an associate degree in chemistry, science or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Chemical Technician works under moderate supervision. The purpose of this procedure is to provide a means of establishing the functions and relationship of this position at RICCA Chemical Company. This applies to all employees having earned this position through their educational background or work experience.
Education: The Packaging Technician should have a High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: Previous work experience is not required but work experience in packaging, manufacturing, or other related business functions would be a plus
Physical Requirements: This position requires a person to be able to speak, write and conduct business in English. This person shall have sufficient eyesight and hearing (both may be corrected) to read business documents and properly fill out appropriate Quality System Records and Forms. This person may be required to occasionally lift up to 70 pounds
Mental Requirements: This position should be able to understand and then follow written and verbal work instructions and quality system procedures without direct and constant supervision after the initial training period is successfully completed and documented. This position should have sufficient mental capacity to accommodate and successfully implement changes in work tasks and quality system changes when required.
Working Conditions: This position may be working on the Production Floor under various indoor environmental conditions, including supplemental heating in the winter months and without air-conditioning in the summer months. The position may also be expected to work with some concentrated forms of raw materials, hazardous chemicals and wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as full-face respirators, face shields, and aprons.
