    Responsibilities:

    • Chemical Safety Management:
    • Assess the chemical hazards associated with the drydock repair project and develop comprehensive safety protocols.
    • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals in accordance with NFPA standards and relevant regulations.
    • Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
    • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop mitigation strategies to minimize risks to personnel, equipment, and the environment.
    • Implement control measures to prevent accidents and emergencies related to chemical exposure or fire hazards.
    • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Stay updated on NFPA standards, as well as other relevant regulatory requirements, and ensure full compliance throughout the project.
    • Work closely with regulatory agencies to obtain necessary permits and approvals for chemical-related activities.
    • Training and Education:
    • Provide training and guidance to project personnel on chemical safety practices, emergency response procedures, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Conduct periodic safety audits and inspections to verify compliance and address any deficiencies promptly.
    • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of chemical inventory, usage, and safety data sheets (SDS) throughout the project.
    • Prepare comprehensive reports documenting chemical incidents, near misses, and safety performance metrics for review by project stakeholders.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
    • NFPA certification or equivalent qualification in chemical safety management.
    • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a maritime or shipyard environment.
    • Strong understanding of chemical hazards, risk assessment techniques, and emergency response procedures.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
    • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards at all times.
