    Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
    I.         Position Summary: The Scientist/Chemist I participate in supervised laboratory responsibilities which involve the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment; data collection, data review, and equipment maintenance, samples preparation for analysis; tabulation of data; issuance of reports; assist with results interpretation, and other operations as required by supervisory and management personnel.
    II.            Significant Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
                    •             Assist and perform laboratory analyses.
                    •             Sample preparation and sample processing.
                    •             Sample tracking between labs.
                    •             Clean, maintain, calibrate, and document actions on laboratory equipment,                          instrumentation, supplies, and safety devices on a regular basis (regular as defined by Department guidelines). Report repair and service needs to Department management as they arise.
                    •             Compile reports and meet all appropriate Quality Assurance and Quality Control                                                    requirements and processes necessary during the normal laboratory operations.
                    •             Collect, package, store and arrange for the disposition of any samples, chemicals and/or reagents and any waste products from laboratory activities.
                    •             Additional duties as assigned and/or necessary

    III.           Minimum Qualifications Required: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have appropriate education, experience, and professional registrations.  Following is a list of required qualifications:
                    a.            Education: A 4-year scientific/technical degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, physics, geology or a related scientific field (introduction to chemistry class and lab required).
                    b.            Experience: Relevant experience may be substituted for education.
