    Position

    The Analytical Chemist I/II is responsible for the preparation and analysis of radioactive and non-radioactive samples generated in NorthStar’s production or development laboratories, maintenance, calibration, and qualification of analytical measurement equipment, and may assist with quality control of products. The Analytical Chemist I/II will be comfortable with cGMP documentation processes, have strong critical thinking skills, and be able to accurately interpret data.

    Responsibilities

    • Operate, maintain and calibrate analytical instrumentation, including but not limited to: MP-AES, ICP-MS, ICP-OESIC, HPLC, GC, and TOC.
    • Operate, maintain and calibrate radiation measurement equipment, including but not limited to: HPGe, LSC (with alpha and beta counting modes), Alpha Spectrometer, gas proportional counters, dose calibrators, survey meters, and wipe test counters.
    • Preparation and analysis of samples (radioactive and non-radioactive) with a variety of instrumentation.
    • Perform radiochemical separations as needed to support product development.
    • Review, evaluate, prepare and follow Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions and Reports.
    • Understand and prepare equipment documentation.
    • Conduct testing to generate data in support of product development.
    • Engage in inter and intra departmental collaborations.

    The Analytical Chemist II will have additional responsibilities including: 

    • Plan and coordinate testing to generate data in support product development.
    • Review data, compile results, and write reports suitable for regulatory agency submission (e.g. FDA, NRC, WI-DHS, etc.)
    • Provide guidance to other members of the team and those working in the laboratory.                                                             

    Qualifications

    Previous experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory making cGMP / GLP measurements is required.

     

    Analytical Chemist I Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related physical science and minimum two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two (2) years previous experience in a radiochemistry position with an understanding of radioisotopes used in nuclear medicine desired.

     

    Analytical Chemist II Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and minimum four (4) years of laboratory experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in a position working with open sources of radioactivity and an understanding of radioisotopes used in nuclear medicine desired.

    NorthStar Medical Radioisotopes is headquartered in Beloit, Wis. This location is our primary manufacturing site and accommodates all of our corporate functions.
