Chief Nurse Anesthetist manages and schedules Nurse Anesthetists who plan, arrange and secure necessary anesthesia equipment. Aids Anesthesiologist in organizing courses of instruction for students, and partakes in resulting programs and demonstrations. Being a Chief Nurse Anesthetist prepares reports and compiles data dealing with specific anesthesia, drugs and techniques, and patients' reactions to them. Requires a master's degree. Additionally, Chief Nurse Anesthetist requires Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Chief Nurse Anesthetist typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Position Summary:
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) provides a wide range of care and services in their designated specialty. Must be able to provide consultative services to other providers and complete procedures entailing significant risk.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Provides a wide range of care and services in their designated specialty.
• Provides consultative services to other providers and complete procedures entailing significant risk.
• Treats patients in a faithful, diligent, and skillful manner in accordance with current acceptable standards of practice in the CRNA’s professional specialty, applicable to state and federal laws and regulations, and accrediting body standards.
• Consults with physicians concerning matters outside his/her scope of practice or professional specialty.
• Assists with training and education of students and other personnel within the CRNA’s professional specialty.
• Assists emergency physicians in treating emergency department patients in a timely manner.
• Actively supports and participates in performance improvement to achieve excellent patient outcomes, customer satisfaction, team work, patient safety and efficient utilization of resources.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. Graduation from an approved school of Nurse Anesthesia.
Experience:
Eligibility for certification by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA). Satisfactorily pass the AANA national exam within twelve (12) months of hire.
Licensure/Certification:
Holds a current Registered Nurse (RN) license and has Advanced Practitioner status in the State of Kentucky. Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
