The Children's Hospital is an approximately 263,000 square-foot, eight-story hospital with 146 licensed pediatric beds, and it offers the highest level of care with a 56-bed Level IV NICU and 36-bed PICU and an on-campus outpatient surgery center with more than 150,000 pediatric outpatient visits and approximately 5,000 pediatric patient discharges annually.
It has been recognized for 12 consecutive years among the best children's hospitals in multiple specialties and named a Level 1 Children's Surgery Center by the American College of Surgeons Children's Surgery Verification Program.
ÂThe Children's Hospital is the primary pediatric training site for the Penn State College of Medicine and is adjacent to the College of Medicine basic science departments.
There are multiple teaching opportunities, working with pediatric residents, medical students, and many other learners throughout the institution. In addition, there are opportunities for both basic and clinical research available throughout the institution.Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine sponsor more than 70 ACGME-accredited residency and fellowship programs, including otolaryngology, with a total of 14 residents, and pediatrics, with a total of 48 residents.
