    The current landscape: In Nevada, despite a nearly 82% statewide graduation rate, less than 1 in 5 high school students is on grade level in math and less than half are on grade level in English Language Arts. Opportunity 180 seeks to partner with the broader community to lead both practice-based and policy-centered solutions to the State’s persistent educational challenges, and to do so by unifying around a common vision for success based on evidence and data. This requires a coordinated effort to align around a single North Star and deploy sustainable strategies to ensure efforts to meet the educational needs of kids can launch and thrive. 

    To meet these ambitious goals and build the conditions needed to strengthen and amplify our work, we are seeking a Chief of Staff who can ensure the team is aligned on goals, mission, and work, and support strategic initiatives and drive strategic process.

    Role Snapshot:


    IMPLEMENT the strategic infrastructure to support and multiply organizational impact across each of the key areas of work that align to the organization’s 10-year goals. This is primarily an internal operational role – but may require some engagement in fundraising and external relations. 


    PARTNER with a mission-driven, diverse team to serve as primary liaison between the organization’s leadership and the broader team to execute the organization's strategic vision. 


    DRIVE the implementation of key strategic practices, processes, and systems to reach our goals.


    The role breakdown: 

    50% strategy execution, 25% team culture, 15% team development, 

    10% general administration and board support



    The Chief of Staff at Opportunity 180 will serve as an integral member of the organization’s senior leadership team, with the specific objectives to:


    • Serve as the lead implementer of the organization’s strategic processes 
    • Increase alignment and integration of the team’s work to increase impact and achieve short and long-term goals
    • Assist and communicate with senior leaders in decision-making, program management, and initiative implementation
    • Improve current organizational processes and coordinate organizational procedures for optimized impact toward our short and long-term goals
    • Oversee implementation of the organization’s annual planning and performance management systems

     

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    • Serve as liaison between staff, senior leaders, and CEO regarding company climate, employee well-being, annual plan progress, project updates, and proposals.
    • Structure, plan and facilitate Team meetings including Senior Leadership Team meetings, Weekly Team Meetings, and other team interactions aligned to areas of strategic focus.
    • Operationalize the core tenets of organizational culture and ensure Opportunity 180 can continue to live its values and operating principles (even/overs) aligned to its long-term goals
    • Guide the team in asserting their ownership and engagement in driving team culture 
    • Operationalize, in partnership organizational committee, annual planning and progress monitoring, including supporting approaches for developing and implementing work plans, trend analysis on specific objectives, project management, and monitoring.
    • Provide consultation and make recommendations that will improve teamwork and organizational alignment.
    • Facilitate and continuously improve upon the organization’s annual planning, progress monitoring, and process codification to ensure O180 is continuously improving and on track to achieve its goals 
    • Work with the CEO and senior leaders on special projects and partnering with the team on “all hands” activities as needed and directed.
    • Lead the use of the organization’s ROI tool which is annually measuring and reporting the organization’s overall impact aligned to its key performance measure from the 10-year strategic framework.
    • Identify and occasionally provide team professional learning opportunities to ensure the team continues to grow in their roles to drive impact 
    • Assist the Director of Operations with new hires by overseeing the new team member onboarding process as well as the annual team performance management approach aligned to the organization’s values.
    • Stand-in for the CEO or other senior leaders in external meetings and gatherings as needed.
    • Oversee the alignment of the organization’s sub-teams with one another, including intersection of the organization’s C3 and C4 activities

    Qualifications

    The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job. 


    • Previous demonstrable experience leading the implementation of Org-wide strategy and leading organizational and team culture initiatives
    • Ability to manage up to leadership team and serving as an intermediary between senior leadership and broader team
    • Previous experience leading the professional development of mid- to senior-level managers inside a fast-paced, dynamic organization
    • 10 years in a business or executive management role or similar leadership role
    • Excellent communicator in written and verbal forms
    • Extremely versatile, dedicated to efficient productivity
    • Experience planning and leading strategic initiatives


    Preferred Qualification

    • Experience with data analysis and familiarity with systems such as Google Sheets, AirTable
    • Experience with budget management
    • Consulting experience with a focus on operations management
    • Proven success in a project management role
    • Nimble business mind with a focus on developing creative solutions
    • Strong project reporting skills, with a focus on interdepartmental communication

     

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: A current Nevada State-issued Driver’s License and current automobile insurance coverage, including automobile registration.



    Compensation & Benefits:

    • The salary range for this position is $125K-$140K
    • We offer excellent benefits, including a 401K plan, 100% coverage of medical and dental insurance with 50% coverage for dependents, opportunities for local and national personal and professional development, generous PTO, and relocation if needed
    • A flexible work culture where we work from the office at least 2 days a week and from home the remainder of the week with the exception of in-person team meetings and programming.
