Summary
This position is accountable for the planning, organizing and operation of the Maintenance of Equipment Department and all equipment maintenance activities consistent with Company demands for passenger cars, passenger locomotives and work engines for commuter services. This includes all shop operations, shop equipment, field operations, car appearance, customer service, technical services and all related operational and administrative activities to ensure the effective utilization of all maintenance resources.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
-Direct the development of strategic planning and long-range objectives for the schedule maintenance, unscheduled maintenance and life-cycle forecasts of all rolling stock, shop machinery, equipment and facilities to ensure the continued safety and efficiency of service and reliability of equipment on a long-range basis.
-Contribute to the achievement of long-term strategic objectives through participating in the planning, organization, communication, and control of LIRR business activities.
-Ensure close coordination and teamwork with all Transportation, Engineering, Stations, Security, Police, and Rail Vehicle Program departments, in order to minimize customer inconvenience during planned or unplanned service disruptions and projects.
-Select, motivate and develop key staff members within the M of E Department to ensure management continuity and safety culture.
-Responsible for continued implementation of the Corporate Employee Safety Policy. Promote safe work practices and provide safe working conditions and continued support of close call safety program.
-Ensure all Company policies are enforced, HR policies practiced and all labor contracts are administered properly with the Maintenance of Equipment Department.
-Ensure compliance with governmental regulations (OSHA, EPA, FRA, FTA, EEO, etc.) and MTA requirements in accordance with LIRR objectives and policies.
-Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to guidelines of company safety policies and procedures. Lead by example.
-Perform other assignments as requested by Senior Management.
