    Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs


    The University of Maine System is accepting applications for a Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs (VCASA). The VCASA is the senior executive in academics and student affairs, reporting directly to the Chancellor and representing the Board of Trustees of the University of Maine System. The VCASA has the responsibility and authority for strategic academic planning and policy development, student affairs, enrollment, institutional research, and accreditation. The VCASA serves as a change leader for the University of Maine System while guiding and coordinating system-wide initiatives and operations. This position is a two-year, initial-term appointment. This appointment may be extended by the University of Maine System at the Chancellor's discretion annually.


    The work location is on the Orono campus of the University of Maine.


    Based on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant, the annual salary is commensurate with experience plus a 10% employer contribution to the UMS retirement plan. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, and tuition waiver programs for employees and dependents. The UMS is a recipient of the Wellness Councils of America’s Well Workplace Award and offers a wellness program.

    Qualifications:
    • A doctoral degree is required.
    • Extensive professional experience working in and with academic and student affairs, enrollment, and accreditation.
    • A significant record of leadership with a minimum of seven years of experience in higher education administration, preferably at the cabinet level or higher.
    • Experience in change-process leadership.
    • A commitment to a public statewide system dedicated to teaching, research, public service, and student success.
    • A commitment to helping define and implement the UMS vision of Unified Accreditation and its purposes and principles.
