POSITION SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse in the Pre-Op/PACU Unit provides individualized and specialized nursing care to patients in the ambulatory surgery center in accordance with physicians’ orders, recognized nursing standards, legal aspects of current nurse practice within the state and Florida Health Care Plans policies and procedures. The nurse functions cooperatively with physicians and staff exhibiting teamwork characteristics. They demonstrate initiative, insight and critical thinking skills in the care of the patients. Pre-PACU nurses use the nursing process to identify patient needs for continuous assessment. The RN will document and evaluate the effectiveness of nursing actions and ensure a safe environment of care for the patient.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, skills and experience:
• Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
• Maintain a valid Florida State Board of Nursing RN license required.
• Two years’ experience in a PACU Unit ICU or ER Preferred.
• ASPAN certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
• Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association of the American Red Cross or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of employment.
• Clear English communication skills, written, and oral.
• Veni-Puncture/IV therapy required.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Computer experience to include EHR experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of CPT/ICD 10 coding preferred.
• Ability to remain professional when working in stressful situations.
